Gaviscon Double Action tablets have been specifically formulated for the treatment of gastro-oesophageal reflux. These symptoms include acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion which may occur following meals or during pregnancy, and in those who display symptoms of oesophagitis.
Gaviscon Double Action tablets contain the active ingredients sodium alginate 250mg, sodium bicarbonate 106.5mg and calcium carbonate 187.5mg. They work in two ways to effectively relieve the symptoms of both heartburn and indigestion. Firstly, sodium alginate begins to form a thick layer (known as a raft) on top of the stomach contents once it makes contact with the stomach acid. The raft acts as a strong physical barrier and helps to keep stomach contents in the stomach where they belong and not in the food pipe where they hurt. Then the antacid content neutralises excess stomach acid to relieve pain and discomfort of indigestion

How to use: For oral administration, after being thoroughly chewed. Adults and children 12 years and over: 2 to 4 tablets after meals and at bedtime. Not suitable for children under 12 years, unless under the guidance of medical advice

CAUTIONS/ALLERGIES: If symptoms do not improve after seven days, the clinical situation should be reviewed. Gaviscon Double Action Tablets may be used during pregnancy and lactation. Nevertheless, taking into account the presence of calcium carbonate it is recommended to limit the treatment duration as much as possible. Keep out of the reach and sight of young children. Gaviscon Double Action Tablets are not suitable for children under 12 years, unless under the guidance of medical advice. Not suitable for patients with renal failure.
